Hello Doctors, Earlier Today, I Was Sitting In My Chair

Question: Hello doctors,
Earlier today, I was sitting in my chair and felt this decent amount of stomach bile come up my esophagus, that left my throat burning for about 30 minutes, leaving me to cough quite a bit (this has never happened before). Finally, after taking some TUMS and Bentyl, it slowly subsided. However, I%E2%80%99ve also developed a dull ache in my mid-left back since (that hurts when I laugh but is relieved when I press on the area; hopefully it%E2%80%99s muscle) and some mild nausea, so it has me concerned if it%E2%80%99s cardiac or renal or something else going on.
Thank you,
Chase

Brief Answer:
Acid reflux to esophagus
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to Ask a doctor service.
I read your query and here is my advice.
I think the content which come up was stomach fluid and what happened is reflux of stomach acid in esophagus and mouth.
I think you should treat it using antiacids such Pepto-Bismol or maalox.
Also you should take Proton pump inhibitors such omeprazole for 28 days.
Also reduce caffeine and alcohol intake, eat less acidic food, less fruit juices etc.
Sleep with elevated head with pillows.
Eat at least 3 hours before sleep.
Hope I have answered the question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
