Question: Hello, i am a major hypochondriac and worry over a lot of things. Last month i was constipated and was constantly worrying about having colon cancer because i keep reading things online. I mostly have been doing better, but today i noticed my poop was dark brown to almost black. I've read Thats a symptom of abdominal bleeding, and now im worried. Last night i did eat a lot of oreos, and im showing no other symptoms of bleeding, im not faint or pale, but im still worried

Brief Answer:
Sounds completely benign

Detailed Answer:
Hi Kurtisfay26,

What you describe sounds like a perfectly normal variation in bowel movement coloration. If your dark stools were caused by bleeding, you would feel very unwell with dizziness, shivers, etc. If you are worried - and older than 40 years - I suggest you have a colonoscopy to check your large bowels.

Hope this helps. Please let me know if you have further questions.

Update, my anxiety made me have diarrhea, but when i looked it was all brown, no black, is that a good sign?
