Question: Hello, my 9 year old daughter got bitten by what we thought was a mosquito but it has been three days and the bite has gotten bigger. The first day it was about 2 cm diameter and now it is about 6 cm. She does not have a fever or any other symptom. She is allergic to the common things but nothing big.

When the bump got bigger, it seems that it is a bigger bump under the original one.

Brief Answer:
Insect bite allergy

Detailed Answer:
Hi...By what you say and correlating it with the image I feel that it is a simple skin allergy called Urticaria in medical terms. The other possibility is Insect bite allergy.
I am sorry for the symptoms but they can be really irritating and persistent.
The trick of management is that you need to be getting an antihistamine at regular intervals round the clock into the system to keep the allergic response at bay.
I suggest -
1. Syrup Benadryl (12.5mg/5ml) 5ml at 3am/9am/3pm/9pm (OTC)
2. Topical emollients and lotions will help.
3. Do not apply Calamine lotion as sometimes it may aggravate the situation please.
4. If this not showing effect in 48 hours you can apply 1% Hydrocortisone cream twice a day for 7 days and then once daily in the morning for another 7 days and then stop it please.
