Hello, My Question Is About Taking Azithromycin (z-pak) With A

Question: Hello, my question is about taking Azithromycin (z-pak) with a mild heart block condition. I have read that Azithro. can cause QT prolongation. Is this a bad combo?
Current condition: mild fever, cough (occasionally productive but a struggle), discolored sputum, slight chills and fatigue.
I live in Japan and while I saw a doctor this morning, I cannot always follow what they say 100% due to the language barrier.
Any help or illumination you can provide is much appreciated. Thank you!

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome To Ask A Doctor Service
I have gone through your question, I understand your concern.
yes azithromycin can lead to q t prolongation, as you are having cardiac condition.
You should avoid Azithromycin, but there is not very much risk, you can say one to two percent chances of getting any problem.
But it is safe for you to take some other antibiotic as per your clinical symptoms, I would suggest
tablet cefixime 200 mg twice daily for 5 days it will be completely safe considering your heart condition.
I hope your query is clear now.
Thanks and regards
