Hello, My Question Is About Vaginal Infections. I Have Been

Question: Hello, my question is about vaginal infections. I have been having vaginal symptoms off and on for about a year. I have thick white discharge with itching and burning. It presents like a yeast infection but every time I have been tested the doctor said that I am negative for yeast. When they look under the microscope they said that I have 4+ lactobacilli in the culture. They don't see yeast or clue cells. I have been tested for BV, trichomonas, chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis, HSV and HIV and all are negative. I have not been sexually active since any of those tests. I get some relief from Diflucan but the symptoms always return. Based on these symptoms, what are your recommendations? Is there another type of less common infection that I should be asking to be tested for? Thank you very much for you assistance.

Brief Answer:
Could be Trichimonal infection.

Detailed Answer:
Hi forest.Sobol,
Thanks for the query.I understand your concern.
I can think of Trichimonal infection which is sexually transmitted paracytic infection.Thick white discharge& itching are typical to it.Another thing is while it passes from one sex partner to other...possibility of reinfection is common in this infection.
To diagnose vaginal swab test microscopic would help.
In such an infection treatment of both sex partners simultaneously is essential/abstinance till both are cleared of infection is desired for full recovery./As the infection is difficult to control a sufficiently long course of oral&local(vaginal pessaries&ointment to spouce) are advocated.
I would suggest to discuss it with your treating gynecologist for diagnosis/specific treatment plan & dosage of drugs according to personal need.
I hope tht helps you .Any follow up query is welcome.
Thanks.
