Hello, My Son Has Been Drinking Tonight. After 12 Mixed
Question: Hello, my son has been drinking tonight. After 12 mixed vodka premixed vodka drinks (10 White Claws and 2 Socials), 3 jelly shots with vodka or rum and then he was oddly off balance and began puking bright orange and white chunky vomit. After he threw up, he immediately began have chest pains. He dry heaved all the way home, was completely incoherent and disfunctional and continued to complain about serious chest pain. He puked some more white and orange/yellow chunks and then passed out. While he was asleep he was saying Owww owww, it hurts so much. He is passed out and was shaking for a minute like he was having a seizure. We can't wake him. He is out cold. This is an 18 year old, who can drink a fair amount, weighs 180 lbs and is about 5'10 . We have his apple watch on him and his heart rate was between 61 and 70. Should we be calling an ambulance or just monitor him all night?
Brief Answer:
Chest pain needs urgent attention
Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to Ask A Doctor service.
Your son had a binge drinking session and there might be too high levels of alcohol in his blood that may have lead to seizures.
I think, vomiting would have caused chest pain in this case, still an ECG is needed. If an ECG can be done at an urgent care center nearby, then no need for an ambulance. If you can drive him to an emergency or urgent care center that would also be fine. If you cannot drive, then please call an ambulance.
If you have a Blood Pressure monitor at home, you can monitor that as well, until you see a doctor.
