Hello, Recently I Made Out And Let A Woman Perform

Posted on Tue, 2 May 2023
Question: Hello, recently I made out and let a woman perform oral on me. The next day I started to have a head cold and now I noticed like a white ball on my tonsils. Could I have contracted an STD? So far my symptoms have been runny nose and sneezing.

Brief Answer:
Seems HPV related

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to Ask A Doctor service.

I have reviewed my query and seen the photos.

This seems related to HPV infection (papilloma of tonsil). Or maybe streptococcal infection. Both can be transmitted sexually.

I will advise you to run specific tests to rule these out. Also STD panel (blood test) needs to be done to find exact cause. A sputum culture or throat swab may also be helpful.

Hope this helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.

This can happen immediately after contact? I literally kissed her at 10 at night and the next morning I had a cold. I talked to the girl and she showed me results from her doctor from being tested recently. She also gets the HPV vaccination.

Brief Answer:
Sexually transmitted bacterias can show up in a day

Detailed Answer:
Hi again

HPV infection does transmits immediately but manifests in few weeks. Still we cannot exclude it solely on basis of incubation period. It could have happened previously from "non-sexual" exposure but it maybe acting up now. Stress maybe playing a role. Even if such an infection happens, it usually clears up in few days.

Sexually transmitted bacterias can show up within few days time. Strep throat shows up in 2 days. Since bacterias can easily be controlled with antibiotics, I will suggest an urgent throat swab or sputum for culture and sensitivity. Another method is to send blood samples for serology to identify any infection. After sending samples, empiric antibiotics can be started.

Anyways there is no need to panic. Your infection seems to be a virus causing mild or moderate symptoms (in contrast to STDs). Most such infections clear by themselves in few days time. Avoid sexual contact until cause is found.
