Question: Hello, thank you for helping. I am dealing with a large bump on my nose that developed over the past week. So far I have been using Dove soap, rubbing alcohol, and Camphor Phenique to break up the oil in the area, to dry it up. The bump is about three eights to half an inch long. Today I found that the bump is not as tender as before and the area is becoming harder to the touch. Also it is getting darker. I am writing this because I can feel it pounding. I have had this before but not to this extent. What is going on?

Brief Answer:
Folliculitis, oral & topical antibiotic

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to ask a doctor service
I have gone through your query and it seems to be a folliculitis which is inflammation of the hair follicle.
I would recommend you to take a course of oral and topical antibiotics.
I would recommend you to take tablet cephalexin 500 mg twice daily for 5-7 days and apply mupirocin cream on the affected area twice daily for 7-10 days.
This should resolve it.
These are prescription drugs and you need to see the doctor in person to get them.
