Question: Hello there
I have developed hair follicles on my chest - I can not remember seeing these before and I am concerned they could be a sign of inflammatory breast disease - I started the menopause about three years ago. I would attach a picture but I can not see where to attach it to.

Brief Answer:
Likely to be due to blocked sweat glands

Detailed Answer:
Dear Madam

Greetings of the the day. Welcome to healthcare-Magic

Thanks for providing the clinical picture it really helps. The lesions appear to be blocked sebaceous gland /sweat glansand its absolutely nothing related to breast inflammatory disease. Its a common skin condition , which usually occurs due to excessive sweating , as a reaction to mild allergy of the dress material. Rest be assured there is no major cause for concern.

I would suggest you thr following

1. Bathing twice daily with lukewarm water will be helpful

2. Refrain from applying any deodorant or anti-perspirant in that area

3. preferably wear cotton clothes

Do get back to me if you need any further assistance

Thanks

Best regards

Hello there

Sorry to bother you again - is it possible that they could have developed because of low oestrogen due to the menopause. I seem to remember seeing another person asking as similar question about developing hair follicles and the answer stated that this could be related to low oestrogen.

Kind Regards,

Helen

Brief Answer:
Unlikely to be due to low Oestrogen

Detailed Answer:
Dear Madam

Low Oestrogen Level usually is associated with generalised skin manifestation in form of dry skin and hot flushes. As the circulating levels is reduced : it usually produces generalised manifestation and unlikely to produce such local manifestation restricted to chest alone.
On the contrary excessive Oestrogen can cause spider navi like rash over chest and upper arms and not hypo oestrogen state ( low oestrogen state ). It would not be appropriate to label it to any hormonal issue.

I hope this clarifies your doubt. Do get back anytime if you have any further queries

Wishing you and your family a very happy and healthy life

Best Regards
Deepak
