Hello There Doctor, My 5 Year Old Daughter Has Had

Question: Hello there doctor,
My 5 year old daughter has had a cough since the 30th October. She had alicol d for the first week and a half but then we stopped thinking she didn't need it anymore, but the cough kind of lingered and got a bit worse and we were worried that the cough has been lingering for so long. Usually it clears up around 2 weeks.
The doctor here has said it looks like mycoplasma? There has been a respiratory virus going around Costa Rica at the moment.
So she is now on augmentin for 10 days, I think the cough has gotten a little better but is still lingering.
In the meantime, she has some ulcers on her tongue which coincided with starting augmentin. Is it possible that it's a reaction to the antibiotics?
I've put some bonjela on her tongue every 3 hours, but I am not sure if the ulcers are caused by medicine, or if she is biting her tongue.
Because she is on the spectrum, she is not able to communicate this to us.
At what point do we need to take her to the doctor again - should we be concerned that she has had the cough for nearly a whole month?
It's a struggle to get her to eat because her tongue hurts, and her throat probably hurts from coughing.

Brief Answer:
Need some more information please.

Detailed Answer:
Hi...Thank you for consulting in here.
By what you quote I feel what your kid could be having viral associated wheeze or multi triggered wheeze. I have a few questions for you -
Questions:
1. How many days per month does your kid cough or feel breathless?
2. How many nights per month does your kid's sleep get disturbed due to above symptoms?
3. Does your kid feel breathless when running around or playing with other kids?
4. Are the symptoms when there are seasonal changes?
5. Is there any family history of asthma or any other sort of allergies like skin allergy etc.?
6. Is the cough always associated with fever?

Hi Doctor, thank you for reading my message.
Here are the answers as best as I can give them

1. So far, she has coughed from the 30th Oct, so 25 days of coughing. It did sound like it was getting better the second week, but then she started sounding croupy and dry, like she was trying to cough something out. She's not breathless though.
2. She doesn't cough in her sleep at all normally - even now when she coughs during the day. Once she falls asleep, that's pretty much it, maybe one or two coughs if she stirs.
Currently during the day, if she eats or drinks something cold, she will cough every 20 seconds, just singular coughs.
3. She's not breathless when running around. She's pretty active. Although, today and yesterday, she seems tired. She's on day 5 of augmentin.
4. No symptoms when seasonal changes.
5. No allergies, but my husband had asthma growing up and I've not seen him with breathing issues, only when dog hair is in his face, he is allergic... but just mildly.
6. No fever at the moment. She had a fever on the 30th when the virus started, but it cleared up in 1-2 days.

I keep notes on when my kids get sick, so I can refer back to them if I need to... so I can keep track of symptoms and medication. I've pasted my notes below.

She's normally really resilient when it comes to getting better from these colds and flus, but this one .. I don't know if she just picked up another virus halfway through the month back to back if that is even possible, or if she just has had one long continuous cough irritation/virus.

These are videos of her coughing from a week ago, that we sent to her pediatrician (who is contactable on whatsapp for any issues with our kids).

Thank you doctor.
We will take her see the pediatrician on Monday to confirm this.

How odd of a behaviour - I didn't even know this was possible.
We've been worried every day because it has been going for so long!

At what point do we need to take her to the doctor again - should we be concerned that she has had the cough for nearly a whole month? It's a struggle to get her to eat because her tongue hurts, and her throat probably hurts from coughing.
