Question: Hey doctor,

For the last year now I’ve had this burning pain when I urinate. It’s not everytime I urinate but it’s especially worse if I don’t drink enough water. Now I’ve been to the doctor and a specialist urologist and I have done a bunch of tests to test for infection which have all come out negative for anything and I had this before I even ever had sexual intercourse. I recently had sex with a condom for the first time 3 months ago and it didn’t change anything pain wise so I don’t really understand what is going on? My doctors told me not to worry about it but it’s super annoying they did send me off for another ultrasound of my prostate but I don’t think it’ll show anything especially at my age and since I’ve had this a year now what else can I do? I also have IBS and bad bowel and stomach pains which is why they haven’t given me antibiotics so I am unsure if that’s related in some way?

Just to add to this the burning pain is pretty mild and it hasn%E2%80%99t gotten worse over the year its stayed the same it is more of a annoyance than something that is effecting my life and I often forget about it. However I would like to get rid of it if possible the only other thing i can think of is i used a fleshlight sex toy a year ago before i started getting the burning pain but the urine, swaps and blood tests would of shown an infection right? I%E2%80%99ve done them about 6 times as well now and they have all been the same showing nothing at all and my docs just said its nothing so I am confused.

Would doing an ultrasound even show possible signs of infection?

Hey doctor I ended up sorting it with my gp it was mainly just me not drinking enough water. One other thing I wanted to ask last night I had sex with my girlfriend and afterwards I had like a hot flush where my arms, legs and my face for a couple of hours. What do you think that could be would it possibly be a hormone thing after sex? My partner didn’t seem to have the same problem just me.

When I say hot flush as well I don’t mean my face was red it was more so my arms and legs that were just hot almost like a heat pack on your skin.

Thanks for that doctor I will get the reports off my doctor for your opinion in the meantime in terms of the burning pain when I urinate I feel it kind of just above my pubic hair area in the centre and also in the barrel of my penis as it comes through. Just on a more of a speculative opinion based on the fact I’ve had this symptom for about a year now what could it be? I’ve done the urine tests for UTI, STI’s and inflammation which where normal but I have not done the ultrasound recently of the urinary tract however I did do one about a year ago so I don’t believe that would come out unusual on that either. But what else can I actually do test wise especially since my doctors think that there is nothing wrong? Could there possibly be something more sinister at my age as well I’m only 22? Is it possible that the urine and blood tests aren’t picking up the infection is that a possibility I’ve done several over the last year and from different labs too which all had the same result coming out negative and when I first got this issue I’d never had sex at that point either. Could you elude to if having this for now a year could caused serious problems if it were to be an infection is it still ok to have sex as well? I’ve always worn a condom too.

I’m also definitely not drinking that amount of water that is recommend however I never had this problem in the past and drunk around the sense amount of water so could that really be the issue?
