Question: Hey i had rhinoplasty two weeks ago and I am very embarrassed to say that I’ve been smoking 3-6 cigarettes after 9 days and until now. I had tip and bone work done. I will stop smoking completely from tomorrow on since I just read that it can ruin your results. But my question is have I already ruined it?

too early to say...please see the detailed answer below...

Detailed Answer:
Hello there,
Welcome to 'Ask A Doctor' service...
I've gone through your query in details...
I can understand your concerns...

First of all, it's important to know, for what purpose was the rhinoplasty done...
Was it to correct breathing problems due to the nose or correct any disfigurement resulting from trauma or birth defects?

Next, was it done as an outpatient procedure?
Were you fully anaesthetized (general anaesthesia) or just the operating part of the nose and surrounding was anaesthetized (local anaesthesia)?

Technically speaking, it needs at least 4-8weeks of smoking free period for the rhinoplasty wound to mature and start healing. Now smoking, after 9days, can have several adverse effects (as you may already aware of) most notably reduced blood supply and risk of scar tissue formation in and around the nasal cartilage and the tip of course.

I'd recommend a prompt visit to the operating plastic surgeon and get a thorough check-up done in the first place. In case you're using a nasal splint, s/he may check the surrounding under a microscope for any residual scar-tissue/excessive swelling/reduced blood flow over the area. Only after that, it can be safely assessed if it's healing adequately or not.

Not tomorrow, I'd recommend stopping smoking from today itself (no vaping either).
Please don't panic but do get the area checked at the earliest. In the meantime, drink plenty of water, have plenty of antioxidant-rich foods (especially rich in Vit-C, Vit-E and Zinc), seasonal fruits and high protein diet (they'll promote wound healing)...

Let me know if I can assist you further...

Take Care
Kind Regards
