Hey My Doctor Called Me With My Bloodwork And Said

Question: Hey my doctor called me with my bloodwork and said I tested positive for a hsv1 antibody but don’t need a treatment ,does this mean I have herpies
Brief Answer:
You have had herpes in the past and that is why your body made antibodies
Detailed Answer:
Thank you for using "Ask a doctor" service.
Positive for HSV1 antibodies means that you have been in contact with herpes in the past and now you have antobodies that serve as a memory to that.
You do not need treatment for now, but in the future, if your immunity decreases may happen to have some lesions (the typical blisters of herpes). In this case, depending on the severity, you will need treatment.
Hope this helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.
