Question: Hi - My left leg has no pain, but has started to experience sudden onset of weakness. I'll be walking along and feel like I might fall down. It doesn't last long, but it comes out of the blue and I worry I may fall one of these times when it hits me. I am 66, in excellent health, and have never experienced this before.

Brief Answer:
Can be due to mild nerve root compression.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
A sudden onset of weakness in the leg without any pain is likely to be due to a mild nerve root compression at the level of lower spine. This happens due to degenerative changes in the spine.
You can get an MRI scan of the lower back to confirm this. You need to start with regular back strengthening exercises to help with this problem under the guidance of a physiotherapist.
I hope this answers your query.
In case you have additional questions or doubts, you can forward them to me, and I shall be glad to help you out.
Wishing you good health.
