Hi 47 Yr Old Women Started Having Left Groin Pain

Question: Hi 47 yr old women started having left groin pain with menstrating went to family dr as I am flying to the states on Saturday wanted to ensure nothing urgent or serious has an ultrasound done which says may be a hernia but I am scheduled for a cy when I get back as my periods lessons so does the pain no other symptoms I have attached a copy of ultrasound my gp said it was gone to fly although I want to make sure
Brief Answer:
Nothing to worry
Detailed Answer:
Hi and welcome. I don't think this is an emergency. Ultrasound shows very small hernia which is probably present for years. It may cause groin pain, but if there is no hard swelling felt in groin or symptoms such as vomiting and longer obstipation, then there is no need to be worried. I suggest to avoid heavy lifting, and take nonsteroid painkillers. If symptoms persist, you should do CT scan and if the diagnosis is confirmed, you can consult surgeon. Wish you good health. Regards

Brief Answer:
Hi again
Detailed Answer:
Yes, it is safe to take Tylenol.also ibuprofen or diclofenac may help.
You can enjoy vacation of course. This hernia is present for longer period and this is not some acute condition. Sometimes it becomes incarcerated and then this is urgency but this is very rare in such small hernias. This would present with irreducible swelling in groin, intensive pain, nausea, vomit and inability to pass stool. Generally, most activities and sport activities are allowed, but we just recommend to avoid lifting some heavy weights when pain is present. Feel free to ask further questions. Wish you good health. Regards
