Hi, About A Month Or So Ago I Went Into

About a month or so ago I went into ER due to cutting sensations across the very low part of my abdomen and I also had some blood in my stool about that same time. I have not had blood in my stool since then, but do have a colonoscopy scheduled for late August. Well part of yesterday and now after eating some pizza and taking a pepcid complete the cutting sensations across the lower abdomen on both sides have returned. Back a month ago they ran a CT scan with contrast and said I had no tumor or infections, but yesterday and today have been a bit more frequent and the cutting feelings across the bottom so low concerns me. I do not have blood in my stools, but I have had solid and non solid stools. Should I be concerned and possibly go to ER if this keeps up?
If pain persists despite of taking an anti inflammatory you could visit ER.
Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for choosing "Ask a Doctor" service for your query,
Have seen your details and I appreciate your concerns,
As per the query very likely you are having fissure or a breached inner lining of mucous membrane which lines our intestine.Pizza usually contains fine floor which sticks up to intestine hence rate of persistalis increases so that intestines could get rid of the sticky fat and fine floor hence causing the already breached mucosa(lining of intestine) to rupture causing tearing pain.
As right now the main concern is pain as you are not bleeding I would suggest you to take Pysllium husk 10 gram thrice soaked in XXXXXXX warm water. Its a natural bulk forming agent and your stools would easily pass by without irritating the breached lining of mucosa.
To get rid of pain take 1 tablet of ibuprofen.
In case you have an antispasmodic with you like Dicyclomine take one tablet of it twice daily. This would reduces inner inflammation and spasm hence pain would subside.
However in case the pain is intolerable you can visit the ER and get shots of antispasmodic and anti inflammatory.
Basically colonoscopy would reveal the site and intensity of the problem.
Till it's done avoid all spicy foods,Fast foods,Beverages alcohol etc.
Just have simple home made food which would be easy to digest and would be easy to expel also. Take lots of vegetables and fruits daily. They are rich in fiber and would bulk up your stools.
Hope I was helpful,
Feel free to follow up.
Thanks.
