Hi After TTC For 3 Years, We Have Finally Decided

Question: Hi

After TTC for 3 years, we have finally decided to go for IVF. I am a severe PCOS case.
All the pre-requisite tests for IVF are done. My AMH came out to be 20.5 ng/ml. IVF doctor said there is a high risk involved if I go ahead with my own egg. There are chances that there are no good quality eggs, or very big eggs which might enlarge the ovaries or even if I try to conceive with this AMH, i might have an abortion.
I am almost hopeless now. I thought IVF to be a last option for me to become a mother.
Doctor's statement has scared me now.
She said if you want you can go ahead with donor egg, forwhich I am not ready.
For now, she has given folic acid and metformin for 1.5 months. Post that she will check my condition again and will take the decision on how to proceed.

I want a second opinion on this. Is it really impossible for me now?

Brief Answer:
Feedback. Lifestyle changes.

Detailed Answer:
Hi there.
I welcome you to HCM virtual clinic.
I have understood your concern and I will suggest you the best possible treatment options.

First of all do not panic.

In my opinion to go ahead with IVF treatment is a good option.
But asper your AMH levels and your past history, you need to work on PCOS first before going into IVF treatment.

As you may be aware that PCOS is a lifestyle disorder and you need to have lifestyle changes to be inculcated in your daily routine.

I would like to know about few things in detail.
1. What's you height in centimetres and weight in kilograms.?
2. Do you indulge in physical activity like exercise and or walking etc?
3. Have you done any USG to know about the volume of both the ovaries?

Please feel free to communicate with me again.
Your feedback will help me to suggest you better treatment options.

I hope this answer helps you.
Thanks.

Brief Answer:
Lifestyle modifications and medical line of treatment.

Detailed Answer:
Hi there.
Thanks for appreciating the answer and reverting back to me.

I have gone through your reply and USG report.
Even if you are planning for IVF treatment, for your personal general health, I will suggest the following:

As you might be aware that PCOS- polycystic ovaries syndrome is a lifestyle disorder and can be managed by healthy lifestyle changes.

In such a case, ovaries show increased size and volume, also show tiny fluid-filled cysts (follicles) located peripherally.
All these changes lead to the absence of ovulation and hormonal imbalance.
There is weight gain, usually on the tummy, also there is unwanted hair growth in the face and other body parts and oily skin and acne.
Most of the patients do have an irregular menstrual period.
This can have an impact on fertility as well as on metabolic processes.

So along with the medical line of treatment; which includes ovulation induction medicines and Metformin like insulin resistance lowering agents or low dose oral contraceptive pills like Krimson 35 to regulate the periods, you need lifestyle changes also.

Please opt for a healthy diet and regular exercise regimen.
Include more portions of fruits and vegetables and salads in daily diet.
Drink plenty of water in the day.
Avoid refined sugars and deep-fried foods and bakery products in the diet.

Please take Iron, Calcium, protein and vitamin B 12 and Folic acid supplementation on a regular basis.

This helps to prevent various complications during conception and pregnancy and childbirth.

I hope this answer helps you.
Please feel free to communicate with me again.

Thanks.
