Question: Hi,

An ex partner has just told me she has chlamydia. I am worried I have been infected for a year and have not been treated yet. I have not seen symptoms except that I have difficulties keeping an erection at a young age, 23. If the test results show I am infected will the treated solve the erection problem?

Thanks,
Amr

Brief Answer:
This complication will be solve after the treatment.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome in "Ask a Doctor".
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

You should know that one of the complications of chlamydia is erectile dysfunction as a result of prostatitis.
If you treat the infection of chlamydia means that this complication will be solve.
But sometimes the complication could persist for a long time after the treatment or could remain if are not related to chlamydia infection.

Hope I have answered your query.
Regards.

Hello,

That is a very detailed answer, thank you so much. Would ED treatments i.e viagra solve the problem in case it is not treated directly? Also is there any other STD that can cause ED?

Thanks,

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome in "Ask a Doctor".
I am sorry for my late response.

You should know that except chlamydia even mycoplasma genitalium and genital herpes could cause sexual dysfunction.
Related to the treatment of ED with viagra I suggest to meet an XXXXXXX if this persist for a long time after treatment of chlamydia.

Hope I have answered your query.
