Question: Hi!
Can I take the Gaviscon ADVANCED? (This is not the US kind - but the UK one with more potassium etc in it)

I struggle with heartburn and silent reflux etc. This I believe causes larynxspasms which gives me breathing problems, and sometimes it is triggered from split second tickles/prickling in the throat which closes the windpipe for a split second.

I have low bloodpressure, and some irregular heartbeats. Is it safe to take Gaviscon Advance for me in spite of the low bloodpressure? (Usually 110/70, but has been as low as 95/60)

Detailed Answer:
Hello

After going through the medical details provided by you I can understand your concern and I would like to tell you that 110/70 is a perfectly normal bp reading however 95/60 is slightly low.

Gaviscon advance is basically an antacid which doesn’t have any significant affect on cardiac functioning. So although you can use it but it’s advisable to take recommendation from your treating physician who knows your medical history well.

If you feel you have a reflux disease then instead of self treating taking the help of gastroenterologist is advisable to avoid later complications like gastritis or ulcers.

Hope to have been helpful.

Kind Regards
