Hello, I'm Dr. Branch, thanks for using 'Ask a Doctor'. Duromine (phentermine) and sertraline do have a serious interaction, in which both increase the toxicity of the other, which could lead to serious reactions, such as serotonin syndrome. While the sertraline dose is not a large dose, and so it may not be a problem using both, I would certainly only take these medications together under the advise of a doctor who can follow you and monitor you for any side effects. Also, it may be possible to use a different medication that doesn't have this serious interaction, depending on the reasons you are taking both of these medications and your other history.
