Hi Doc I Am 28 Years Old Not Married At
![default](/r/images/default.png)
I am 28 years old not married at the moment. Growing up During my teen years I always had a bit of discomfort in my rectum. With time when I got to around 22. It turned into a sharp pain, I remember I needed to frequently urinate etc... I went to the doctor where I did my CRP and it was very elevated around 27.
I was then given some ciprofloxacin 500mg which sorted out the pain straight away and I had recovered within a month. My CRP reading is now normal and my ESR reading is also normal.
I just wanted someone to shed some light, into what could have been the problem if on examination my prostate and urination sample contained no bacteria? I did use to have a fungal infection on my testicle. Could it have been seminal vesicilitis?
Also my final question is now that my CRP and ESR are normal I can say this will not cause me any long term problems with fertility? Because the inflammation has disappeared? Is this a common problem in males.
Just wanted some reassurance as I may consider CBT because I keep having negative thoughts.
Thanks

CRP can be raised in wide variety of inflammatory conditions
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for query .
Based on the facts that you have posted raised CRP that you had is most likely to be due to inflammation of Rectum (Proctatitis ) and frequent urination that was associated with Rectal pain was mostly due to refereed pain as Rectum and Urethral sphincter has the same nerve innervation by Pudendal Nerve ,
Normal CRP today can not be a prediction that you will not have any inflammation in future .Hence it can not be said with certainty that you will not have any problem in future nor can be said that you will not have fertility issue .
Please do remember that CRP test is very nonspecific test and it can be raised in wide variety of inflammatory conditions of body.Same is true for ESR .ESR is raised in many chronic inflammatory process and cancers and has only prognostic value rather than diagnostic value.
Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions,I shall be happy to help you
Thanks and Regards.

But with my CRP being normal my question is... can I today say that I have no inflammation in my body which means my reproductive organs are all running ok?
I agree this can change in the future. How does our body recover from inflammation and can there long term damage.. if there was the CRP would have still been high that’s my question.
Thanks final question

Normal CRP as on Today signifies that you do not have infection in body
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for follow up .
Normal CRP as on Today suggests that you are free from any active inflammatory process in body and same is true for reproductive organs.
Any patient with infection of any organ if treated with appropriate antibiotic can be recovered completely .
Since it being a non specific test do not give too much importance to normal or raised CRP test.
Thanks and Regards.

How is the inflammatory process works? Can infections leave any lasting damage or does once infection goes everything goes back to normal ?
What do you recommend for improving sperm count and allowing all the reproductive organs run healthy?
Thanks
