My son is 4 days old born on 28th feb. today we did the jaundice test it is 15 and when he was born the jaundice was 10. It is showing an increasing trend. Currently my child is not feeding well and we have to give him formula milk as I am not lactating well.

The child is too sleepy and lathargic always also ur one output is around 5 times a day. He poops a lot with mustard yellow collour. We want to know if we should go to the hospital and get the photo therapy done . And are the uv rays too harmful for the child.

Brief Answer:
4th day 15 bilirubin is an indication for phototherapy

Detailed Answer:
Hello...I understand your concern.

A bilirubin level of 15 on day 4 of life is an indication for phototherapy.

Phototherapy light is not a major health hazard.

The eyes and genitalia will be covered by the health care team of NICU.

Don't worry.
