Hi Doctor I Am A 34 Year Old Male. I

I am a 34 year old male. I got tested for HIV, Hep B, Hep C in 2018.All were non-reactive. I was not in any window period. Both my psychiatrist and internal medicine specialist told me that I am not suffering from HIV, Hep B, Hep C. Even the internal medicine specialist has provided his stamped note that I don't suffer from hiv, hep b, hep c.
I have tested several times for hiv, hep b, hep c from 2012 to 2018, all were non-reactive(negative). I got fear of STDs after I failed montoux skin test for tb in 2012.
Few days back I saw a video on how emails can be hacked. Since many of my reports were sent through email, I started thinking what if my emails were hacked. I know that this fear of email hacking is irrational, as there are so much security protocols followed in gmail. I myself have seen smtp security of mail, so there is no way emails from laboratories can be hacked. Out of anxiety I call labs and verify my reports, they reconfirm me saying I am non-reactive for HIV, Hep B, Hep C.
I was on serta 100 mg for my anxiety. Kindly let me know If I can continue the same. My psychiatrist told I suffer from OCD + panic attacks + depression.
Also my psychiatrist asked me to take 0.5 mg rivotril if I feel too anxious. Can I take these medications?

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX
Thanks for using Healthcaremagic.
I read your query and understand your concerns.
First of all I like to inform you that recurrent thoughts about something despite the contrary facts confirms the diagnosis of obsessive compulsive disorder. As you might be knowing by this time that OCD is a disorder where the person is well aware of his thoughts and their irrelevance but fails to get rid of them despite the effort.
As you know that there was no email hack but persistence of thoughts points toward the problem with thinking. We also need to acknowledge that there were multiple testes from 2012 to 2018. Even if we assume one or two hacking there remains lot of tests with normal reports. You might be agree with me that it is not possible to hack every mail.
Now in regard to you question I feel your psychiatrist has prescribed right medications for you. Sertraline is one of the medication which is effective for OCD. Panic disorder and depression. However the dose of sertraline can be increased to 200 mg as OCD generally requires higher dose for most patients. Most of my patients with OCD require 150-200 mg of sertraline for similar problems.
In regards to rivotril this is important to mention that limit the use. If taken repeatedly it may cause addiction and you should exercise caution while taking it. Take it only when it is necessary.
I hope this helps you.
Feel free to write back to me if you have more questions.
Thanks and regards.
