Question: Hi Doctor, I am facing an issue of anus itching now a days - It usually occurs at night only and mostly don't occur during daytime. I have been noticing it starts mostly after 9 pm in the night - I am not scratching it to avoid any further infection. Also there are no other symptoms at all, it is just purely itching. The area is completely dry and I always maintain a very good hygiene and I keep the area dry after every bowel movement. I am facing this issue from past 8-10 days. Please advise a solution.

Brief Answer:
Could be parasitic infestation, antihelminthic drugs & antihistaminic

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to ask a doctor service
I have gone through your query and understand your concern.
Do you have diabetes or any other ailments as sometimes itching in the anal area is associated in patients with diabetes.
Itching in this area could also be due to parasitic infestation.
I would recommend you to take tablet albendazole 400 mg once daily for 3 days along with tablet ivermectin 12 mg single dose stat and repeat if after 7 days.
Also take antihistaminic like tablet fexofenadine 180 mg once daily in the evening for 10 days.
This should resolve your problem.
These are prescription drugs and should be taken under the supervision of the doctor.

Thank you Sir ! I do not have diabetes or any other major ailments. I just had a mild fatty liver for which I was advised lifestyle changes by a doctor. I have been doing workouts and following some good diet plans since then, thats it and have started noticing improvement in terms of weight loss and belly reduction. I take thyronorm 88 mg and rosoavus 10 for cholesterol. I also take supplements like Omega 3 n Codliver, Liv 52 tab and Milk thistle caps. Other than that the only thing I can think of that may be during this lockdown I have been in a sitting posture for long times because of working from home so that may have resulted in sweating down there and may have developed some itching. Thanks for your advise.

Brief Answer:
Welcome

Detailed Answer:
Yes prolonged sitting can also lead to itching because of friction and sweating in that area.
I would recommend you to avoid prolonged sitting and take frequent some breaks in between.
You can start with antihistaminic and anti parasitic medicines.
