Hi,

You seem to be suffering with a chronic headache. I'd like to know more about the headache before giving an opinion.

1. May I know your age?
2. Have you had this type of headache before the 2 years you specified?
3. Can you describe the headache? - Is it one sided headache or both sides / does it feel like a throbbing (like pulsating) headache or a dull ache ?
4. How long can a headache last if it doesn't go away naturally and you don't take the pain killer?
5. Have you ever woken up with a similar headache?
6. Do you have vision problems?
7. Do you feel nausea / had vomiting with headache?
8. When was the last time you checked your eyes - refractory errors?
9. Do you have any known medical illness like diabetes / high blood pressure?

Brief Answer:
Chronic headache...

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Based on the details provided, you seem to be suffering with a type of chronic headache - migraine most likely. If you are a regular user of computer and spend lot of time on laptop/desktop, you should consider getting your vision and eye checked once again.

Migraine headaches respond to regular painkillers. However if the frequency of headaches are too often - say once every week to more than twice a month instead of painkillers we suggest prophylactic (preventive) medications that are to be taken every day. Medications such as flunarizine, amitriptyline and others are used for the same purpose.

If you seem to suffer with very frequent headaches, instead of becoming habitual to painkillers it is better to start preventive medications.

Inaddition to medications, you should consider a few basic life style change - being regular with food and regular sleep atleast for 6-8 hours every day is a must.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you need more details.

Brief Answer:
Choices available....

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

There are choices available for preventive treatment. If you have frequent headaches and you are fit and healthy (without other medical problems), I would consider flunarizine (tab sibelium) for prophylaxis. Tab sibelium is available as 5mg and 10mg tablets. The drug can cause drowsiness and therefore better used as a single tablet at night.

Tab Sibelium is a prescription only medication. You can contact your local doctor and discuss about the condition and this medication. If deemed appropriate he/she can prescribe a suitable dose as well as monitor the effects.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you need clarifications.
