I would recommend avoiding any foods that can makes this worse, such as alcohol, spicy foods, caffeine, citrus fruits, tomato-based products, and chocolate, as well as use over the counter Pepcid or Prilosec for a few weeks to help decrease the acid in your stomach. If you are still having discomfort after this, you should probably be seen in person to make sure nothing else is going on and get started on stronger treatment.

Thanks for reply in such short notice, but I have to understand this - do heartburn usually lasts this long? I think it's starting to crawl itself to the one week period and the chest discomfort is still present. Although I have no breathing problems and I sleep okay, but what about the body heat on the other hand? I'm just incredibly confused on what's going on with the sudden appearances of these effects.

I'm glad I could get a clear head about this issue. But can I get some advice from you? Is medication often required, or I should just take in water and wait it out? I'm a lover of spicy and fried food, is there any way I can combat this issue without having to deal with heartburn after taking it? I'm not obese and I do a fair share of exercise, but GERD seems to be a problem when I'm trying to enjoy my delicacies. Plus, is stress a major contributor to GERD?

You're welcome, I'm glad I can help. Other than avoiding those foods that exacerbate the reflux, there is not much you can do other than take antacids or other medications to help control it. You can always try to wait it out, but taking medication can help it to resolve quicker, and maybe once the inflammation has calmed down, you can better handle some of these foods in small quantities. And yes, stress can make GERD worse as well.
