Question: Hi Doctor, My 5 years old son was bitten by a dog 2 days ago. Yesterday, I took my first dose of anti rabies vaccine. Unfortunately, he got bitten by a dog again today. So, should I restart the anti rabies vaccine or continue with the previous schedule and compete the remaining 4 doses? I am very afraid. Please suggest.

Brief Answer:
Just continue with the current schedule

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear
Welcome to Ask A Doctor service
I have gone thorough your query and understand your concerns.

But there is nothing to worry. No need to restart or change the schedule, we just need to complete it. A second bite will not interfere with immunogenicity of the initiated vaccine, and will protect against this bite too

I hope this answer will help
Let me know if I can assist you further
