Question: Hi Doctor,
My daughter is 3 years old.
She is having cough and blocked nose since yesterday. We have started giving her Montair LC kid 5 ml/day since when we noticed this condition.
What shall we give her apart from Montair LC, please suggest. We have following medicines available at home in case any of these can be used:
- Ambrolite S
- Maxtra
- Ventorlin
Also, please suggest can we give her Banana, Orange and Curd in this condition or shall we avoid these? Any other dietary precautions to be taken?

Brief Answer:
Avoid self medication
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for writing to us.
Usually cold and cough at this age is viral in nature. You have already started an antihistamine. That would be enough for first aid. I would suggest you to get your child examined by a pediatrician. To rule out infections in throat, nose, chest or signs of allergy.
Avoid self medication. Maxtra is again another antihistamine which will be overdose with current medicine.
Other medicines you mentioned are given for wheezing after confirming by auscultaion by pediatrician.
Fruits and curd can be given if fresh.
Avoid sweets and chocolates and chilled foods.
