Question: Hi Doctor, My name is Amit and I have two children aged 5 and 3. My age is 33 years. Of late, me and my kids are having itching in the anus. I had this issue when I was a kid, too. Itching around anus occurring simultaneously in multiple family members suggests worm infestation. Usually this is caused by pinworms.
This can be treated with Albendazole. You can take Albendazole 400mg tab at bed time once. For kids, give Albendazole suspension(20g/5ml) 10 ml at bed time. Dose is same for both kids.
All of you can repeat the same dose after 2 weeks.
If itching is quite disturbing, you can take Levocetirizine 5 mg at night for 3-5 days.
