Question: Hi Doctor , my mother 68 years of age has diabetes. she is taking amaryl 1 before breakfast and glycomet 500 after breakfast (since a month and earlier it was glycomet 250) and thn amaryl 1 again befone dinnet andd glycomet 250 after dinner. she is also taking supplement for eyes. since last two weeks she has started complaining about anxiety and depression . also her sugar level was also around 90 . now we have stoped amaryl and she is only taking glycomet 500 in the morning after breakfast and glycomet 250 after dinner along with depression medicine. her sugar level fadtung was 110 and after breakfast was 145. can you please advise if we cna continue giving her glycomet only or there is better medicine/salt. her wieight is arounfld 60 kg. Actualy my family doctor is in U.S and return after 2 months.

Since your mother's fasting sugar level is below 100, it is better to take only Glycomet 250 both in the morning and night.

You need to check her sugar levels repeatedly, and make changes to her medicines only if your doctor is close by and can take care of her if she develops low sugars.

You need to consult a different doctor, you can not wait for 2 months for your family doctor to come back.

Glycomet is the best medicine.
