Can be due to arthritis
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
A pain in the knee joints can be due to arthritis or an injury or inflammation of joint capsule or tendonitis .
It is advisable to find out the cause by taking an Xray of her knee joint. Xray will help us to find out whether her bones are normal or not. If there is no history of trauma or injury to her knee, no history of fever, no swelling in her foot, no other joints involvement then it should be mostly due to age-related wear and tear ie. osteoarthritis.
These conditions are easily managed by regular physiotherapy ( Range of motion exercises, stretching and strengthening exercises). Over-the-counter pain relievers, such as aspirin and ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin), can help reduce pain and inflammation associated with this condition. If these pain relievers do not work then she can take Voltarin or a muscle relaxant after getting it prescribed from your doctor.
I would suggest getting this evaluated by an orthopedician nearby for an accurate diagnosis and appropriate management. Your doctor after diagnosing the condition might refer to a physical therapist.
I hope this answers your query.
