Hello,

Thanks for sharing your health concern with us.

I have gone through your query and would like to offer some information.

If you took the emergency contraceptive pill within the stipulated time period, you are well protected and need not worry about chances of conception. Please clarify whether your time of pill consumption correlates with your unprotected intercourse. I think there is some typing error in the dates.

The emergency contraceptive pill contains high progesterone content and hence causes withdrawal bleeding. The next natural period is also likely to be delayed by a week or two.

In the current scenario , I think you can wait for a few days before going for further evaluation.

Hope this helps. Please let me know if I can assist you further.

My Concern is I had taken 1 ECP on 30th Oct. Normally whenever I take emergency contraceptive pill I get my periods in advance. Assuming I will get my periods in a day or 2 since I had spotting I had unprotected sex again on 11th nov. I still have spotting if I wipe it with tissue but my bleeding has not yet started. Is there a way I can take a pill and start the bleeding. I am worried now pls suggest

Hi,

Thanks for writing back.

In the current scenario, you have some chance of conception presuming you were in the fertile period at the time of the intercourse. However, this is very unlikely.

Also, it is early to test for pregnancy. You have to wait for ten days after the intercourse and get the estimation of serum beta-hCG titers to confirm/exclude pregnancy.

Further management can be planned accordingly. If pregnancy has occurred, hormones cannot induce a period. You need proper medication after evaluation.

If pregnancy is excluded, you can use a course of hormones to set the cycles back on track.

Hope your query has been clarified. Please feel free to contact for further information. I will be happy to help.
