Hi Dr. I've Had A Chronic Cough Of Very Many
Question: Hi Dr. I've had a chronic cough of very many years at times with clear mucus production. It's always seems to originate from the upper right side of the chest. Many years back I used to have serious heart burns but not these days but they left me with a sensitive feeling on the right side of my trachea, and the same side of my stomach when I swallow food and also a permanent itch on a spot situated below the skin between my right hand side shoulder blade and my back bone. The cough is at times in remission for many hours when I;\'m ether walking, or when I'm standing but is made more frequent when I'm seated down and even more when I've tightened my belt.

I read carefully your history you provide and I am sorry for your situation
So as you explain you have been treated for airways infection mucolitics and antihistamines drugs .
I have a question for you: Have you done a chest X ray? If not you should do it and if negative than its a good thing.
If you were my patient I would recommend you to add in your current treatment a treatment for gastric reflux such as Omeprazol 40 mg once before breakfast time for up to one month.The symptoms you prescribe means toet hat probably this chronic cough is also due to gastric problems. Use it and you will feel the difference
Also take care with the food ,no spicy no smoking .
But please first discuss with your treating doctor for the above

Yes, I've had an X-ray done but with negative results even for TB. By the way my reflux condition was very serious the time it existed but this ended more than 20 years ago. I'll try the treatment with your recommended drug and see what happens.
