Hi Dr. Kumar: The Clonidine Trial Didn't Really Succeed...kept Me

The clonidine trial didn't really succeed...kept me up at night but zapped my energy during the day. Interestingly I found I was getting less blunting by spacing my three Nardil doses out; taking a full 100 mg Lamictal, 15 Nardil, and 50mgs Modafinil all at once in the morning...then taking another 25 lamictal in the late afternoon.
I also found that I got less numbing and cognitive problems by omitting my .25 klonopin at night, and instead only taking the 100mg gabapentin. I added 2mg prazosin to help with the nightmares and I can largely sleep through the night now.
However I have been noticing significant blood pressure changes during the along with heart palpitations more often. Big fluctutions in body temperature; and jumps between lethargic and irritable. I frequently have bad palpitations after eating lunch. I wondered if I am having some kind of rebound from the prazosin or some bad interraction with other meds.
As a reminder I am taking Issentris and descovy for HIV infection in the morning, along with 50 mg modafinil, 15 mgs nardil, 100 mgs brand lamictal. Supplements include B complex and agmatine sulfate (similar properties to clonidine actually).
Afternoon I take another 15mg nardil and then 25 mg lamictal with .125 klonopin. Then I might need to take 2.5mg ritalin if I cannot concentrate or get lethargic in the afternoon.
At Night I take my last 15 mg nardil, 2mg prazosin, and 100mg gabapentin, as well as prilosec.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting a follow up query.
I have reviewed the literature and found out that Prazosin is most likely cause for feeling of changed temperature of body, palpitations and fluctuations in blood pressure.
Unfortunately all the above are side effects of Prazosin and Palpitations is very well recognised and known side effect of Prazosin. However if the problems are not very severe it can be continued as the side effects tends to disappear with time.
I also like to make it clear that neither HIV medications nor other medications cause any interactions with Prazosin and hence they are safe. It is also important to note that Prazosin rebound effects are produced when it is discontinued but we just started Prazosin and there is no question to withdraw it currently.
I hope this helps you.
Feel free to write back to me if you have more questions.
Thanks and regards.
