Question: Hi, During the incident the 2 year old was holding a car and when I tried to get it from his hand. He had a fresh cut between his fingers and it was bleeding. I to had small cuts that were four days old and cracked skin that bled the night before. Is it possible I could have contracted hiv?

Brief Answer:
HIV transmission by contact with 2 year old child's blood is quite unlikely

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to HCM.
Thanks for posting your query.
First of all, You had some contact with a child aged just 2 years old. The prevalence of HIV in children is almost 'nil' after effective PPTCT or MTCT programs. As long as the parent of child and the child himself look healthy, the possibility of HIV is almost 'nil'. When the child is not having HIV, mere contact with the child's blood has no risk for HIV. Your fear for HIV in this incident is baseless. Not to worry and ignore the incident. Relax and have a nice day.
