Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Welcome to Ask a Doctor service!

I passed carefully through your question and would explain that shortness of breath in diabetic patients could also be indicative of coronary artery disease.

For this reason, I would recommend performing an ECG cardiac stress test or cardiac stress echo in order to exclude this possibility.

Other tests to consider would be:

- a cardiac ultrasound in order to examine your heart function and structure
- pulmonary function tests
- complete blood count for anemia
- D - Dimmer plasma levels for possible pulmonary embolism.

Further tests ( pulmonary angio CT scan) may be needed in case of abnormal D dimmer levels.

You should discuss with your doctor on the above tests.

I remain at your disposal for any further questions whenever you need!

Kind regards,

Dr.Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
