Question: Hi, I am 41 female and I have developed a XXXXXXX Hump (confirmed by GP but getting a sonogram.) I bruise easily and have gained 40lbs in the past year with excess in my upper stomach which is unusual for me. My cycle is normal and so is my BP. I had one blood draw at 4:30pm and my cortisol level was 13.8 ug/dL. I have read mixed things on if this is a normal range and at this point have no further follow up testing and my follow up appointment is 4 wks away. Is Cushings likely? What other test can I ask for to definitively rule it out? 24 hour unrine? Thank you!

When the symptoms are very suggestive for Cushing disease there should be done some tests to confirm/ rule it out ;
-Free cortisol at the 24 hour urine
-Dexametasone supression test
-Salivary cortisol
If 2 of these results positive, than Cushing is confirmed.

Thank you. I have a scheduled ultrasound on the XXXXXXX hump. What is the benefit/purpose of that?

Hi again, XXXXXXX hump is not evaluated with ultrasound. It is a clinical diagnosis.
So i would suggest to cancel it.
