Hi...
Welcome to "Ask a Doctor"service.
I am Dr Ajeet XXXXXXX
I have gone through the shared image and here is my opinion.
Your stool colour is dark and black.
Most cases of black stools are from eating black and iron rich foods or iron supplements.
This is a normal finding.
Black stools may be caused by blooding in the upper digestive tract..
Bright red Blood gets semidigested and appear black.
This can be detected by a stool test.
Kindly share your clinical history and symptoms in detail so that your stool sample can be judged in clinical context.
Do you have any abdominal pain, vomiting, nausea and diarrhea
Do you have anaemia and are you on iron therapy?
Waiting for your revert.
Regards

Hi...
Welcome back.
Yes.....I have gone through both the images.
As you had abdominal symptoms and are recovering from an abdominal infection ,it is very common.
The cause of it being infection and bowel inflammation secondary to infection.
In my opinion,no active intervention is required and you just follow your clinical condition.
Keep yourself well hydrated, eat a rich fibre diet with plenty of raw vegetables and fruits,be physically active, stay away from refined carbs and junk.
This will help in your bowel clearance.
Regards.

Hi, did you look at both images because I was concerned that my stools were greyish?
I was having some abdominal discomfort a few days ago but that now seems to be settling. I've also been a bit constipated and have had a bit of flautulance.

Thank you. By the way, would it be obvious if my stools looked like I was lacking in bile?
I ask because I have been searching for hours on the Internet at all different things, and now I've started to worry about the possibility of pancreatic cancer.
However, I have had a bunch of tests lately this year such as blood tests and a stools test a couple of months ago. The results are as follows:
04 Jul 2019 Serum gamma-glutamyl transferase level
LIVER FUNCTION TESTS - Normal.
04 Jul 2019 Pathology Lipaemia comment - unknown. - No further action needed.
28 Mar 2019
Result type Pathology
Tests CALPROTECTIN - Normal.
29 Mar 2019
Result type Pathology
Tests Plasma C-reactive protein level
FULL BLOOD COUNT - Satisfactory
What do you make of this?

Thank you. Just one more thing. Today I noticed my stools floated a bit then sunk. However, they were a normal brown colour and looked soft. Also, there were some drops streaks of yellow on the toilet water. Is that also normal to you?
Also, can fybogel cause this change in bowl habits? I was actually constipated a few days ago, and now I have this change.
The only other symptoms I have are some belching after eating or drinking, some wind, and a tender spot on one of the bones of my right rib cage if I press on it quite hard.
Apart from that I have no other symptoms, and feel generally well. No yellow skin, urine is normal colour, and no whites of the eyes turning yellow. My abdominal discomfort I did have a few days ago has also settled.
My GP thinks I have an irritable bowl based on other symptoms I had about a couple of months ago. However, I have been referred to have an ultrasound scan for my abdomen which I should have had a couple of years ago following a blood clot. The ultrasound is to check mainly for gallstones as well as really for reassurance the GP said. She also examined my abdomen and it felt normal to her. I think I also remember her saying that more serious conditions that I am worried about tend to present differently that when I was describing if I am remembering correctly.
By the way I do health anxiety which you might have already guessed. My health anxiety got worse after I had a blood clot a couple of years ago. The other thing I was worrying about is that a certain number of people who have blood clots go onto develop cancer within 12 months if I remember correctly. The Haematologist however, said this was only 8% of people, and she thought that I had most likely picked up a genetic condition somewhere.
Given all this information, what do you think of this?
