Question: Hi , I am a 64 year old make in fairly good shape walk every morning for 2-3 miles. I am on Olmasartan for blood pressure which is under control and Flow XXXXXXX as well as Lipitor 10mg per every other day. I take CoQ10 as well as fish oil and B-12 tab and D-3 (2,000) daily . I get this burp every once in a while that tastes like citrus. Not a lot just a slight taste of citrus when I burp. No acidic taste in my mouth at all. Also, my AIC is 5.9 (borderline) all other blood work is in the normal range. I have not been eating anything that is citrus. What can be causing this citrus taste?

Brief Answer:
It can be GERD or reflux.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to Ask a doctor's service.
I read your query and here is my advice.

I think you are having reflux or GERD which means returning of the stomach content in the throat and mouth which is causing the citrus taste. Also the burping maybe caused by GERD.
Lipitor may have this side effect while other medications you are taking don't cause this side effects.
You can try some tips to reduce the acidity and reflux.
Don't use much fruit juices, sweets, fruits like oranges , sauces, tomatoes etc.
Reduce alcohol, caffeine, chocolate,
You can eat at least 3 hours before bed.
Sleep with elevated head with pillows.
You can use over the counter antiacids also.

Hope I have answered the question.
