Question: Hi, I am a 72 year old healthy male. I recently had an annual physical with lab blood work consisting of a CBC, comprehensive chem panel, and lipid profile. EVERYTHING came back NORMAL RANGE - kidney values, liver values, lipids, etc.
I noticed that my blood potassium level was 5.0, and the upper norm is 5.2 for blood potassium level. Should I be concerned that my blood potassium is near the high end of normal range? Thank you very much.

Detailed Answer:
Dear sir, I have gone through your question and I understand your concerns but since all your test results came back normal then this could be due to a number of reasons including dehydration, recent trauma , alcohol consumption or some anti hypertension medications. I would recommend that you hydrate yourself efficiently by at least 3 liters of water daily. Also please keep away from alcohol and follow up on this test after one month. I hope you find this helpful
