Question: Hi, I am a 73 year old male with enlarged prostate. Frequent urination but almost normal painless flow. Had within the last 2 years twice same symptoms: sudden onset of burning and pressure pain in buttocks / perineum area between anus and scrotum, a sensation like sitting on a golf ball.
Worse at night when lying down in bed with prolonged sitting or standing uncomfortable too. However, much better when in motion e.g. walking/hiking/jogging.

Symptoms are due to secondary infection of Prostate (Prostatitis)

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for query .

Based on the facts that you have posted the symptoms that you have are due to infection of prostate secondary to enlarged prostate and need to reevaluate.

Consult qualified Urologist for clinical and digital rectal examination and get following basic tests done to confirm the diagnosis.
1) Urine routine and culture.
2) Ultrasound scanning of abdomen and pelvis
3) Serum PSA.

Further treatment will depend upon result of these tests and final diagnosis .

In the meantime start taking antibiotics like Cefexime and Nitrofurantoin twice daily along with alpha blockers like Tomsulosin once daily .

Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions,I shall be happy to help you
