Hi, I Am Currently Scheduled To Fly From Los Angeles
Question: Hi,
I am currently scheduled to fly from Los Angeles to XXXXXXX
3 weeks ago I had a zygomatic fracture that impacted 4 locations on my face.
Have been healing well but I am concerned with flying and air pressure.
My surgeon said that i need the bones to heal delicately and not be moved to avoid an intrusive surgery.
My surgeons office cleared me for flying but I’m not convinced.

Brief Answer:
Flying is OK
Detailed Answer:
Hi Jrsteinka,
The pressure changes associated with flying are perfectly OK when you have sustained a fracture. The issue with cabin pressure changes is that it impacts hollow cavities such as sinuses. A fracture is not air-filled and so, is not affected by cabin pressure changes in any notable way.
Hope this is of some help to you. Please let me know if you have further questions.
