Hi I Am In The Process Of Switching Over From
Question: Hi I am in the process of switching over from 25 mg of zoloft to 5 mg a day of Buspar. I have extreme sensitivity to medication and that is why I stay on very low doses. I am nervous to go off zoloft and have bad side effects as I transition over to the to buspar.
My anxiety is generalized - fear based and negative thinking, always assuming the worst is happening to my kids, that they will get hurt in an accident or that they will be hurt emotionally by others, not feel happy, etc etc. I worry also about my relationship and our arguments take over my whole mind, never allowing it to relax and negatively affecting my marriage.
I am also not a good sleeper. It is hard for me to turn off.
Please advise.

Continue zoloft
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome to Ask a Doctor.
Buspar and Zoloft are the drugs from different categories.
Zoloft is a first choice drug for treatment of anxiety and depression.
In my opinion, buspar can not replace Zoloft.
If Zoloft is working for you, you should continue with it.
Thanks.
