Hi, I Am Training For A Marathon And After My

Question: Hi, I am training for a marathon and after my last 20 mile run (8 days ago) I started having foot pain. When I took my shoe off, my big toe had a bruise on the bottom of it and top of my foot was achy. Continued to work out with minimal pain until my last run. Got fitted for new shoes as apparently I was running in shoes a size too small which was causing my foot to compress. Have taken a couple days off from running but I have pain around the big toe, the little toe, up near the ankle across top of foot. It does not hurt to press on any part of the foot, no pain when walking up or down stairs and jumping really doesn't bother it. Starts to twinge when I sit down. Just trying to figure out if the shoes could have caused the full pain. And no I did not ramp up my mileage or training; following a coach training plan. Thank you

Brief Answer:
Due to ill-fitting shoes.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.

The pain in the big toe and little toe and near the ankle can be the effect of an ill-fitting shoe. Since there is no pain on pressing any part of the foot, any stress fracture is not likely. You need to give your feet some rest and do a hot compress and apply a local analgesic gel like Volini for relief. The bruise will also gradually disappear in 7-10 days.

I hope this answers your query.
