Hi, I Am Trying To Build Muscle And Lose Weight,

Question: Hi,

I am trying to build muscle and lose weight, hence a certified personal trainer suggested me to investigate the following tests.

My height is 5ft 8 inch, weight is 85kg, age 28.

What is the uploaded report suggested? As far as I observed, my VitaminD and Growth Hormone are below the normal range.

My Testosterone level is not much higher. It should be a little higher than 600 would ideal for muscle building.

Why my growth hormone is so low? Unable to figure it out?

What is the main reason for such a low VitaminD, how it can be corrected? Why I haven't got any symptoms till now, as I can see, it's level is extremely on the lower side.

Please, interpret the test report and clarify me. Give suggestions about how to build muscle and lose weight, I have training for the last 4 month under the guidance of personal trainer following high protein diets.

Please, give suggestion about the aforementioned problems.

PS-I was 72kg on XXXXXXX 2017. That time I was training moderately. I didn't train until XXXXXXX 2018. Gained weight about 14kg.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome to 'Ask A Doctor' service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advise.

Your report shows low vitamin D level and low growth hormone level.
Don't worry about testosterone and other parameters. They are within the range.

1) The low vitamin D level could be due to...
_Lack of enough sunlight exposure
_Liver ailment
_Kidney disease
_Metabolic disturbances
_Congenital

It can be treated with one XXXXXXX of 60000 IU once a week for 8 weeks.
If needed calcium tablet also can be added in prescription.

Fish, e.g. Salmon along with cheese, fortified milk with Vitamin D etc are a good source of vitamin D.
Sun exposure of 10 minutes per day early in the morning is recommended.

2) Growth hormone needed for normal metabolism. It is secreted from pituitary gland.
So it's low level suggestive of the possibility of abnormal pituitary function.

MRI brain scan can be done for further workup if needed.

Growth hormone injection can be prescribed for its deficiency.

For that, I suggest you consult the endocrinologist for a clinical detailed evaluation and examination.

Meanwhile, you can continue the gym under the trainer's guidance.

Hope I have answered your question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards.

Hi,

Thanks for answering my query! I do hope, you'll further assist me.

I got my free testosterone report today which is 14.66(New report uploaded).
But When I have checked it last week it was 16.66, which I also uploaded. Why there is so much difference in that.
As far as I know free should be above 30 pg/ml. I think mine would be lowest at my age.
How to increase that to build good muscle? How to increase testosterone level?

Despite living a healthy lifestyle, I failed to understand how can VitaminD be deficiency happened and why till now I have not got any symptoms. Please suggest some expensive VitaminD supplements, so that it can be corrected. Which specialty of Doctor treat this Vitamin deficiency related issues?

Have you gone through my HGH report, it's almost in nill stage, how can I build muscle with such low growth hormone? How it can be increased to 4.I am very disappointed with my body despite taking healthy food this is least I can expect from my body. (Should I visit to An endocrinologist). What are the safe options to enhance HGH safely?

The belly fat and love handle and weight are not been reducing despite taking healthy foods and weightlifting under the guidance of the personal trainer. I am very depressed with my body. Please, suggest some good pieces of advice which will motivate to continue.

Do I need to go for Liver panel, kidney function and heart function for assurance that those are not caused for the Vitamin Deficiency in the body? Do I need to go for the test for a testicular ultrasound, test hypothalamus gland functions?

The lab has marked red for the result of VitaminD, why they didn't mark red for HGH and free testosterone report.

So, Please based on my report and my questions, please give the suggestions and pieces of advice about how do I improve this mess like situation. Which also help to build muscle because I am trying very hard to build muscle and loose fat/Weight. I am very much desperate to build muscle but unfortunately, my body is responding by looking at the report, I would say.

Please, help me out what are treatment options and how much time would it take.

Brief Answer:
You can find your questions answered below.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome back.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice regarding your questions.

1)Mild variation in testosterone report can occur.
Your testosterone report is within the range in both reports.

So your total and Free testosterone both are within range.

So don't worry about that.

2) In the patient having low testosterone, injection of it can be prescribed.

3)Calcirol XXXXXXX can be prescribed for vitamin D deficiency.

It is safe to take. It contains 60000 IU vitamin D3 and it has to be taken after dissolving in milk. The dose is once a week for 8 weeks.

For vitamin D deficiency rule out the causes, I have mentioned and take care of getting proper sun exposure as well.
Liver and kidney profile report can be done for that.

4)For vitamin D deficiency and other growth hormone deficiency finding you can consult the endocrinologist.

5)Growth hormone deficiency can be corrected by taking its injection.

Sometime vitamin D deficiency might not manifest in all.

6) Don't lose hope for weight loss.
You can lose weight by dieting and regular exercise.

So continue exercise under the supervision of your trainer and in the 4-5 month, you can get your desired result.

I suggest you consult the endocrinologist for detailed examination. MRI scan can be done to look for pituitary and hypothalamus. No need for testicular function testing.

Hope I have answered your question.

You can rate my answer if you find it helpful.

Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards.
