Brief Answer:
You should put again the boot and cane.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear , welcome to Ask a doctor service.
I read your query and here is my advice.

I think you should not massage it.
I think you may have caused inflammation while massaging it and the falling asleep and the pain is sign of compressed nerve.
You should have rest, put ice on it and elevate it .
Also you should put on the supporting boot the doctors gave you for about two months without moving it. This will help to fix the fracture and regenerate bone.
I think it was too early to move the boot and cane.

Hope I have answered the question.
Let me know if I can assist you further
