Question: Hi, I had a brain MRI which showed that I have had advanced atrophy of my frontal lobes. What does that mean?

I've been experiencing forgetfulness, and episodes where I do or read something and then have no memory of having done/read it.

Brief Answer:
Mild age related changes in the brain

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing in to us.

The MRI brain report is showing mild age related changes in the brain and few areas of mild decreased blood flow in the brain.

This is acceptable in older age and probably you might be having these changes slightly earlier at 58 years of age and could be a likely cause for your forgetfulness and minimal cognitive symptoms.

The above findings are mild in nature and not a serious concern at the moment.
