Question: Hi, I had a miscarriage 17 days ago and I still have morning sickness that lasts all day. Has even gotten worse over the last few days and I was wondering if it’s possible to still be pregnant? I also have cloudy urine but that could just come from dehydration too. But I was wondering if I should be worried? Some abdominal pain as well but only during the night .

Please see the detailed answer below.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

It is quite possible to ovulate and become pregnant as soon as 14 days or 2 weeks after a miscarriage. If you are emotionally and physically ready for pregnancy after a miscarriage, then there is no need to wait to conceive. The couples who try to conceive within 3 months of a miscarriage may be more likely to become pregnant and have a healthy pregnancy than those who wait longer. If you think, you might be pregnant, then do a pregnancy test 7 days after the next missed period.

For most women, some pregnancy hormones remain in the blood for 1-2 months after a miscarriage. Again, HCG ( human chorionic gonadotropin) will take about 2 weeks or more to become zero. So, after a complete miscarriage, it is possible that you will continue to experience nausea or morning sickness, abdominal pain and pregnancy symptoms for longer.

Again, morning sickness when you are not pregnant may result from dehydration, urinary tract infections, reduced blood sugar, gastrointestinal problems, foods habit like spicy foods etc.

Take care. Hope I have answered your questions. Let me know if I can assist you further.
