Hi, I Had A Recent Relationship With A Partner, Just

Question: Hi, I had a recent relationship with a partner, just like two weeks ago, we kissed open mouth, I have a tiny opening in my lip because its dry (but he did not have any apparent openings or wounds in his lips or mouth), he did oral sex to me, but I did not do to him, we had vaginal sex with double condom while I was just starting my period with light spotting because I was scared of pregnancy so he used double condom, his penis never touched my vagina bare, only covered in condom, and he put his finger inside of me trying to masturbate me. Well he wanted that we go further like I do oral sex to him, but I refused and requested for him to do all STDs tests.

All came back negative except hepatitis C it was positive (he also did the RNA test). The doctor told him it has been like three years approximately since his infection which he says shows from the test. I was shocked and blamed myself of engaging with a man before he does any test. Since we started having vaginal sex (with double condoms) only three days ago, I read that it is too early for me to do the RNA test.

My question is what are the chances of me contracting the virus God forbid based on this, also since I love him, is it possible to live with him normally and have sex with condom, but what about kissing and oral sex, and will it be like playing a russian roulette? and I will be always wondering if I contracted the virus? I tried to read about but they always say there is a small chance, that is really scary :"(( please help

Brief Answer:
Regarding HCV

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to ask a doctor service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Since you had protected sex therefore you don't need to worry about this eposide. Anyways there is a very small risk of contracting HCV through unprotected vaginal sex unless the person has other STDs like HIV. Oral sex is an inefficient means of transmission of HCV, unless blood was passed from him to you which obviously didn't happened. Otherwise unprotected oral sex generally doesn't lead to HCV transmission but of course everytime you have sex with him you'll always be worried if it will lead to HCV transmission in your case e.g if you notice he has an oral sore or if he has a bleeding gum or things like that.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if you need any more assistance.

Thank you, what about kissing? I had a tiny opening in my lip with very little blood, you know that of a dry lip, but he didn't have an openings in his lips or sores or anything, also what about what they call fisting? he put his finger inside my vagina, if I continue my relationship with him without sex should I avoid kissing him?

please also last question, they say having sex with period is risky, I had little spotting, but I am not the one infected, and he has condom, would me having the period at that time made it more risky? because period is not a wound, is it only risky if the women is the one who has the virus?

thanks

Regarding HCV

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Kissing is safe as saliva won't lead to infection. Skin to skin contact too wont lead to infection so fingering is safe. The only little risk is from unprotected sex. Blood is infectious but it is his blood that is infectious. Not yours. I don't think there is any need for an RNA test.
take care

One last thing doctor, please please help me :'(((

I remembered one risky think I did, before yesterday he did the test, he came to my home with a tiny plastic circular bandage (the brown ones) on his inner side of the elbow where they took blood. I was cosy with him and I kissed that his arm over the bandage to show him support.

I remember the blood dot that was on the cotton beneath the brown plastic was visible from above when looking at the bandage. The problem is that the middle of my lip has always this tiny crack due to dry lips, and very tiny little blood, you know the kind of tiny crack that is always there if I don't hydrate my lips properly

so basically my lip with the tiny crack came in contact with plastic bandage covering his wound, but I do remember that there was a tiny circle indicating a blood drop that could be seen visible, I don't know however if it soaked the plastic, or it was just visible, because the plastic should be an insulator

so when I remembered this yesterday I freaked out, because as you said the sexual interaction was not risky, but this incident I don't know, I hate that I was affectionate and kissed his bandage, how stupid of me :"(((

Detailed Answer:
hi.
Don't worry. It must be dried blood and moreover since it was plastic that you kissed, it must have acted as a barrier. take care.
