Question: Hi I had an eye surgery in december.My retina got detached. therfater I was recommended steriods n my weight was increased. recently I had mild eye allergy, my doctor has prescribed me FML T eye drops. just wanted to know if this is also a steroid and will this also increase my weight. I have take this drop for 3 times a daye, 15 days.

Well, the answer to your query is both yes and no. Yes, FML T contains a type of corticosteroid along with an antibiotic... No, it shouldn't cause any further weight gain for short-term usage. In fact, you should take it exactly as per the advice of the Ophthalmologist who might've prescribed this...Along with this, do follow-up with your doctor on a routine basis for continuous monitoring of the present condition.

Now, as for weight gain, it can be due to a number of causes starting from a sedentary lifestyle, diet habit to physical inactivities, etc... So, it needs to be investigated further (starting from CBC, FBS, PPBS, Thyroid profile, Lipid profile, Cortisol levels, etc.), only after those thorough investigations the proper cause can be ascertained...
